Our Story
Located in the heart of downtown Baltimore, Next Phaze Cafe has been a staple of soulful Southern cuisine since its inception. Led by the dynamic duo of Mr. Tony and his daughter Tameeka Randall, we offer more than just great food—it embodies the essence of community, resilience, and growth. From humble beginnings to becoming one of Baltimore’s go-to spots for delicious Southern comfort food and vibrant events, Next Phaze has always been about evolution, passion, and serving with heart.
A Journey of Flavor and Resilience
Next Phaze Cafe was born out of a desire to continue the legacy of Southern hospitality and mouth-watering dishes following the closure of their previous venture, Phaze 10, in 2015. What started as a series of pop-up events from February 2016 quickly transformed into a full-scale restaurant in June 2017. The initial vision was simple: create a carryout-style restaurant that could serve the local community and build a reputation for high-quality, Southern-inspired dishes.
A Place for Good Food and Good Times
We quickly became a hub for locals, drawing in crowds with our delectable offerings such as crab cakes, Southern fried chicken, collard greens, cornbread, and mac and cheese. But we're more than just a place to eat. We're a destination for live entertainment, a gathering place for community events, and a space for celebration. From soulful Fridays featuring live jazz and R&B to open micnights, we have provided a versatile venue for people of all walks of life to gather, dine, and be entertained.
Overcoming Challenges and Growing Stronger
The COVID-19 pandemic presented unprecedented challenges for Next Phaze, as it did for many other small businesses. Before the pandemic, Next Phaze’s business model included a robust catering service and live events. In 2020, as restrictions came into effect and events were canceled, the restaurant pivoted to focus solely on takeout and delivery services. Tameeka led the charge, adjusting the restaurant’s operations to ensure they could continue to serve the community.

Despite the changes, one thing has remained constant—Next Phaze’s commitment to quality and community. From selecting the perfect containers to ensure that dishes like their Bayou pasta and catfish maintain their quality during delivery, to providing meals for frontline workers at local hospitals like St. Agnes and GBMC, Next Phaze continues to prioritize both the satisfaction of its customers and giving back to the community.
